Measure roof slope with the Roof Slope Assistant
Use your phone's camera to compare a roof edge against the 6:12 threshold and send an evidence image to the report.
Section 3 of the Wind Mitigation form asks whether the roof slope is at least 6:12. The Roof Slope Assistant (beta) uses your phone's camera and motion sensors to help you decide and document it.
Use it from the ground
- In section 3, choose Assist Me next to "Need help with the slope?"
- Stand far enough back to see a gable end or rake edge clearly, and keep it square in the frame.
- Tap the amber guide line to start Level Assist.
- Tilt your phone until the guide line matches the roof edge.
- Tap inside the center circle, or choose Capture Frame, to freeze the view.
- Tap the guide again to lock the reference.
- Choose Send to Report to attach the evidence image.
The guide marks the 6:12 threshold, a 26.57° angle.
Choose the answer
- If the roof edge looks steeper than the guide line, choose Greater than or equal to (≥ 6:12).
- If it looks flatter, choose Less than (< 6:12).
Then choose Apply to Form.

Use your judgment
The assistant is a visual aid. Camera angle, lens distortion and roofs with several slopes can all affect the result. Confirm slope by your usual method when it's close to the threshold.
