Permit evidence images: what they show and how to use them
Download a permit evidence image, attach it to a report section, and understand what it does and doesn't prove.
An evidence image is a clean, readable image of a permit record that you can download or attach to a report.
What's on an evidence image
- The permit number, type and work class
- Applied, issued, status and completed dates, where available
- Valuation, jurisdiction, description and contractor, where available
- The source of the record and the property address
- A unique inspection identifier and the date and time the image was generated
The identifier and timestamp tie the image to your specific job, so underwriters and clients can see where it came from and when.
Download or copy a permit
Open the Permits tab and select a permit. In Permit details:
- choose Download evidence PNG to save the image
- choose Copy permit details to paste the text into a note or email
Attach a permit to a report
In the report writer, choose Permits in the photo area where the evidence belongs. Pick the permit to attach its evidence image. See Attach permit evidence and recalls to a report. Typical examples:
- a reroof permit in the Four Point roof section
- an impact window permit in a Wind Mitigation report
Permits in your property archive
The property archive attempts to include evidence images for every available permit record, not just the first ten. If an image cannot be generated or included, the archive lists the omission in manifest.json. The permit details are also recorded in property-data.csv where available.
What evidence images don't prove
An evidence image shows what the source reported on the day it was generated. It isn't a government certificate and doesn't confirm that work passed final inspection. Confirm material details with the issuing building department.
