Where property research comes from
The sources behind property facts, permits, wind data and jurisdiction links, and how often each is requested.
InspectionPress brings several sources together in one place. Knowing where each piece comes from helps when records disagree.
| Information | Source |
|---|---|
| Property characteristics, sale history, tax and assessed values | RentCast |
| Permit history | BuildFax and other available permit records |
| Wind design speed and region (Florida Wind Mitigation) | ASCE hazard data |
| Building department, permit portal and property appraiser links | The InspectionPress jurisdiction directory |
| AI Lab results | Your saved property records plus live sources such as FEMA, NOAA, the U.S. Census and the CPSC recall registry |
Requested once per job
Property data and permit records are requested once for each job and reused across every report in it. Adding a second or third report doesn't trigger new data requests. You can see which sources completed in the Property Status panel.
Why sources can disagree
Providers update on different schedules and match addresses differently. Square footage from a data provider may not match the county appraiser, and a permit database may lag behind the city's own portal. When a detail matters, check the official record:
- Property characteristics: the county property appraiser
- Permits: the issuing building department
Use the links in the Jurisdictions tab to get there quickly. You can then correct the field in your job while keeping the original value visible.
